Top 5 DIY Garage Organization! The Best Maker Videos for Your Next Build!

Hey guys, I am Sarah. Every week I comb through hundreds of DIY videos preparing projects for our weekly Maker show, Maker Break. Along the way, I find some good projects… and some GREAT ones, And right now, I’m going to share them with you! This is Sarah’s Top 5 DIY Garage organization!

#5 is Evan and Katelyn

When it comes to garage organization you can install some prefab units, make your own from scratch, or use a combination of the two options. This creative duo decided to use old storage that was left with the house, some generic shelves, updated metal peg boards, and a sliding track to keep their space clean and tidy. I like that they used what they had and added some new stuff instead of throwing it all away. Everything here is easy to install and there are so many different options for storage solutions plus they managed to fit both of their cars in the garage as all! Added bonus!

#4 is BigLogan

Okay, I don’t know how he doesn’t have more than 3k subs, this video was so entertaining to watch and Logan’s energy seriously comes through in his work. He started a trend of building garage built-ins for one friend, then another friend, then another! He walks you through his building process with step by step instructions for this simple project. He used a combination of plywood, for the shelves and 2×4’s for the frames plus he added this little detail I really liked! These little triangle corner workspaces. Now there is a seating area to work on plans or smaller projects. He also added matching shelves to the opposite side of the garage. This is simple, but a very effective way to make the most of this space!

#3 is Rachel Metz

For those of you who have met me, you may have noticed that I like to keep things organized, even if those around me (whispers) Rob, are not so organized! To each their own right? Well in this video Rachel partnered with Home Depot to make a garage organization /workbench fantasy come true! If building your own from scratch storage solution is a little daunting for you this may be a better option! The giant shelves and cabinets are easy to put together and have a lot of customization options to make it catered to your needs! Personally I like the cleaner look of metal cabinets like this over wooden shelves. But that is just me! You can tell me which you prefer below!

#2 is Crafted Workshop

This one has me excited because I recently moved into a house and our garage has a lot of negative space above our cars, and I would love to add something like this to the garage. With 2×2’s he mounted pieces to the wall and ceiling, then mounted 2×4’s vertically all along the 2×2’s to create a frame. Then he cut some plywood and mounted them to the 2×2 supports. Seriously? That’s it! Well, then you have to add whatever you need to store up there, but whatever it is, it will be up and out of the way!

#1 is  Modern Builds

If you are looking for even MORE storage, and lets be real, you are right? I mean, that’s why you are still here right? Haha well Mike built this giant, garage organization unit with 2×4’s and plywood with a workspace in the middle! And he built it by himself. He cautiously started with the top shelf frames, and worked his way down using braces to keep things from shifting while he was installing the frames. Once he got all of the frames together and mounted securely to the walls it was time to cut down the plywood and secure it to the 2x4s. He added some fun LED lights above the workbench as well! All that was left was to add the tools, boxes and grab n go gear and this was ready to go! I like that he has two shelves up top where you don’t need to double stack the boxes!

That’s it! I hope you liked my list, but if you find a version of this project you think should have made the list add it to the comments below! Alright, do me a favor and like this video and if you are not already subscribed to Belts and Boxes please do that now, and hit the bell so you don’t miss any of our shows that come out during the week! You can catch me every Friday at 5pm for the Power Tool Week In Review with Rob, and every Saturday at 6pm for the next episode of Maker Break! See you then!

Throughout the grand scheme of things you receive an A+ with regard to hard work. Where you actually misplaced everybody was first on all the details. You know, it is said, the devil is in the details… And it could not be more true at this point. Having said that, let me tell you precisely what did deliver the results. Your article (parts of it) is highly powerful and this is probably the reason why I am making an effort to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Secondly, whilst I can easily see a jumps in logic you come up with, I am not really confident of just how you seem to connect the points which make the actual final result. For right now I will yield to your position but trust in the foreseeable future you connect your facts much better.

I am very happy to read this. This is the type of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that’s at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best doc.

Very nice post and straight to the point. I am not sure if this is truly the best place to ask but do you people have any thoughts on where to get some professional writers? Thanks in advance 🙂
