Welcome back, tool fans! This week, we’ve got new tools from Milwaukee, DeWALT, and Ryobi. Plus, a deep dive into DeWALT’s newest Power Stack battery, technology takes on torque sticks, the ultimate mega volt recip head-to-head, and our first Platinum Tool Deal featuring the all-new Milwaukee Track Saw. THIS is your power tool week in review.

Tool Box Buzz | Recip Head to Head 2.0

First up, the boys at Tool Box Buzz are back. Rob Robillard and his team recently tested 17 cordless reciprocating saws in a mega head-to-head, crowning FLEX the new reigning champion. But that was for the 18v to 24v models. This week, they brought out the big boys, including the 60V DeWALT, 36V Makita, 40V Makita XGT, and the 36V Metabo HPT. They ran them through the same tests: power, weight, ergonomics, vibration, features, and even rafter hooks. The winner didn’t surprise us, but it did reinforce our personal brand preferences. To see which saw came out on top, check out Tool Box Buzz’s full review.

Shop Tool Reviews | Milwaukee One Key

Next, we’re talking about the Milwaukee One Key system. While it’s still a mystery to many, Tim over at Shop Tool Reviews tested the One Key system with his Milwaukee 2769 Extended Anvil ½” Impact Wrench. He connected the tool to One Key to adjust the lug nut control and compare it to a set of torque sticks. Tim tested to see just how consistent each option was. He also provided a full review of the 2769. If you’re still unsure about the benefits of One Key, Tim’s review is a great place to start. Check it out at Shop Tool Reviews.

Torque Test Channel | DeWALT Lithium-Ion Pouch Battery

This week, DeWALT unveiled their 5AH Power Stack Lithium-Ion Pouch battery. The Torque Test Channel was eager to put it to the test. They noticed that, unlike the earlier 1.7ah version, this one is significantly thicker. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. They tested the battery’s power output and measured voltage sag on DC battery testers. The new version certainly showed improvements over its predecessor, but there’s still a big question: What’s the cost? To see the results, head over to Torque Test Channel.

Mark Thomas Builder | Ryobi Airstrike Framing Nailer

Ryobi recently released their most requested tool: the 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Airstrike 21-degree framing nailer. Mark Thomas got his hands on one early. This new nailer eliminates the need for noisy compressors, bulky hoses, and expensive gas cartridges. It can sink up to 3 ½” nails with ease, driving up to 750 nails on a single 4Ah Ryobi battery. Mark tested its dry fire lockout, bump fire speed, and the overall power, which was impressive. If you’re a Ryobi fan, check out Mark’s full review.

Milwaukee News!

Milwaukee announced several new accessories this week, starting with customizable accessory cases for drilling and driving sets. These cases are designed for use in Packout storage solutions and come in various sizes, from small to large. They include adjustable rows for easy bit removal and can be attached to M12 and M18 drills for on-tool storage. The cases range from $6.99 to $14.99, with accessory rows priced at $4.99. Milwaukee also introduced new Shockwave impact-duty magnetic nut drivers, available in sizes from ¼” to 7/16”.

Doresoom Tool Reviews | Ryobi Link System

Nate over at Doresoom Tool Reviews gave us a full review of the Ryobi Link system after using it for a year. He 3D printed several adapters and even uncovered some new accessories that could be coming to Ryobi’s lineup next year. While these are just patents for now, they could hint at exciting future additions to the system. Check out Nate’s full review for all the details.

DeWALT News!

DeWALT’s Power Stack battery lineup is growing. After their initial 1.7ah version, they’ve now released a 5ah Power Stack battery. While the price is still steep, it’s a welcome upgrade. DeWALT also introduced the FLEXTORQ Square Drive Modular Right Angle attachment for impact drivers. Available in ¼” and ⅜” sizes, it’s designed to reach tight spaces. DeWALT claims it offers up to 10x longer life than Milwaukee’s similar model, though that’s yet to be tested.

Tools & Stuff | Makita Outdoor Adventure Lanterns

At STAFDA last month, Rob and I saw Makita’s new outdoor adventure tools up close, including the Makita XGT 40V Lantern Radio and the LXT 18V Lantern Radio. Both models double as a phone charger, Bluetooth speaker, and lantern. They feature a USB port, bright lighting, and metal guards that double as antennas. Rob and I were impressed by their compact size and great speaker quality. For the full review, check out Tools & Stuff.
