Ever since launching their 7”-9” M18 FUEL 7”/9” grinder 2785-21HD last year we’ve been asking where is the 6” grinder? For professional trades a more compact 6” grinder really is the perfect solution and 6” slicer wheels and grinder wheels are much more popular than the monster 7” or 9”. It looks like Milwaukee has done a lot of things right here and almost guaranteed this unit will become very popular here is why.
We’ve seen some criticism recently that some of Milwaukee Tool’s recent launches are overpriced, specialty niche items which will have low production runs can be tricky for tool manufacturer’s for the bare tool versions of the 6” grinders 2980-20 & 2981-20 the price is a very reasonable $219, with more power than a 13A, kick-back clutch, brake feature and 6” capacity this is in line with similar corded grinders.
These are the first standard M18 FUEL kits we’ve seen where they are only offered with the High Output 6.0Ah batteries & Rapid Charger, presumably this means you’ll need the High Output batteries to get the full performance from these grinders but we are super excited to see this become the new standard battery & charger for hopefully most of the FUEL M18 tool kits moving forward. But where is the X-Lock Grinder connection??
Launching in March 2019 these new grinders will likely cannibalize the existing 2780, 2781, 2783 M18 FUEL 5” Grinders or hopefully make those a little less expensive as low as $149 or even $129 although no official word there??
