Hey guys, I am Sarah. Every week I comb through hundreds of DIY videos preparing projects for our weekly Maker show, Maker Break. Along the way, I find some good projects… and some GREAT ones, And right now, I’m going to share them with you! This is Sarah’s Top 5 DIY End Tables.

#5 is Tru Furniture

Brittany was needing a new bed side table and found one she liked online, but decided to make her own version of it using only 2×4’s which she assembled using pocket holes and a nail gun. She was going for a rustic design with these little farmhouse style night stands, and they turned out really pretty! She built everything in segments and then once she was happy with the top, shelf and legs she carefully put it all together. So simple, but so pretty!

#4 is Modern Builds

Shifting to a different style we have Mike from Modern Builds who went a more mid century modern with his side table. I’m not gonna lie, I am a huge fan of this style and honestly would love to try and make these for myself. He made the entire thing with just a circular saw and a drill which is also very appealing to me. He built the carcass of the end table, then while that was drying he made the legs. Then he made the simplest drawer and wooden drawer slides I have seen. He seriously makes this look easy. After he assembled everything and added lin seed oil finish this was complete. I love the wooden dowels and leather handle details. They really made these piece.

#3 is April Wilkerson

April was given a stunning piece of horse chestnut live edge slab that was from the front yard of Susan B Anthony’s home. Yeah, that is awesome. April took some time deciding what to do with the slab and finally landed on a small end table. Without changing many of the characteristics of the slab she designed the table and base to match the wood. After she prepped the slab and filled the imperfections with epoxy, then fabricated the metal legs. The fact you can slide this end table right up to where you are working or sitting on the couch, OR just push it up against the wall is really cool.

#2 is 3×3 Custom

Tamar used one single board to create this beautiful waterfall style end table that has some storage and glides over the arm of her couch. She said this was super easy, but projects like this are still a little intimidating to me. She used her table saw and cross cut sled to cut all of her miters, then made a jig to help hold everything together while the pieces were drying. Normally you would use domino’s to hold this together but she doesn’t have one so she came up with a pretty creative way to hold them all together! The final product is absolutely beautiful!

#1 is Black Tail Studio

Cam set out to make a waterproof end table! Finally someone else who cannot stand water rings. He grabbed a piece of walnut and roughly cut it into a circle with his bandsaw, then started filling in all of the little imperfections and let it dry. He experimented with rubio monaco finish on this project to make it waterproof and I feel like it turned out really pretty. While that dried he set out to make the copper legs. After doing some math to figure out how to achieve the look he wanted he drilled holes into the wooden base for the brass rods then assembled it all together and put it to the test. This is gorgeous Cam!

That’s it! I hope you liked my list, but if you find a version of this project you think should have made the list add it to the comments below!
