Push sticks. Everyone has them, they’re super useful, safe, and perfect as is. Like mine! As it turns out, The Building Guru himself decided to talk push sticks this week, with a video walking you through the different types of push sticks, and helps you understand why his is the best. The best news, he teaches you how to make one of your own. To find out how, visit building guru on YouTube.
Back at STAFDA 2019 team Yellow showed off a couple of familiar Flexvolt tools, but with an all-new boost in power courtesy of science! And these new magic improvements are finally hitting the testing circuit, and Clint got an example of the DCS578X1 7 and ¼” circular saw. As we’ve mentioned before, this saw is almost identical to its predecessor but comes with a 47% bump in power thanks to some creative technical advancements and DeWalt smarts. Clint, as you can imagine, is just slighting over the moon about the improvements, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time to bash on MDF just a little. For the full review, run into the tool review zone on YouTube…… DeWalt adds 47% power to a tool, and their first instinct is to send it to Clint.
The Crew at VCG got their hands on the new Milwaukee M18 Compact Cordless Router, and promptly used it to make a Makita video. I’m kidding of course. While Vince specifically uses the new Milwaukee wonder to cut a doorway out of some sheathing, which he does. It’s a tough job, but the little router gets it done. The confusing part was the 2 minute commercial for Makita at the beginning. At first I was convinced that Nick had just uploaded the wrong video. But no… they just really like the new Makita bits! So if you need a good bit, or a good router, you can cover both with one video at VCG construction on Youtube.

It’s time for a quick stop over at construction junkie for our industry news. Specifically, I wanted to point you to an important article that Shane posed this week, featuring a comprehensive list of resources to help contractors navigate the coronavirus pandemic. That includes links to free remote working technology, free legal consultations, Procore webinars, and other resources that specifically cater to the trades. With so many states deeming construction as essential, it’s important that you stay informed and supported. For the full list, visit Construction Junkie dot com.
On over to Instagram, where the Modern Craftsman was installing a steel beam in a home, and asks “Is steel becoming more common in residential construction?”
Scott from drywall by design used his Makita cordless planer to take a bit off the bottom of a door.
The TBB Crew is using some social distancing time to better organize their trucks.
And finally Propelling imagery is using his ego mower and a small child to get his chores done and stay in shape while beating Covid 19. I can NOT let my kids see that.
