NEW TOOLS from Milwaukee, Makita (kind of), and Metabo HPT! Time for the Tool Show!
Welcome back to the latest edition of The Tool Show! This week, we’ve got some exciting new tool announcements from Milwaukee, Makita (well, kind of), and Metabo HPT, plus a bunch of head-to-head tests, jigsaws, and even robots that mow your lawn without boundaries. We’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s dive in!
Metabo HPT’s Compact Reciprocating Saw
First up, Metabo HPT has dropped their new 18V Multi-Volt Cordless Brushless Compact Reciprocating Saw. This saw is lighter and more compact than its predecessor by 22%, but don’t let that fool you—it’s still powerful! With a 1-1/8″ stroke length, 3000 SPM, and a user vibration protection system (UVP), you’re looking at a tool that’s built to handle tough jobs without making your hands feel like they’re shaking uncontrollably.
With 4-speed modes, you’ll be able to dial in exactly the power you need, and a single charge from a 5.0Ah battery can make up to 125 cuts through 2×8 material. At only $159 for the bare tool, this is a serious contender in the compact saw space.
Makita’s Contest – Not a Tool, but Still Cool
Now, Makita may not have launched any new tools this week, but they’ve rolled out the Makita Super Sweepstakes, where you can win some really cool prizes. The grand prize? A custom 2023 Can-Am Maverick X3DS Turbo, complete with custom rims, tires, and an off-road rack—plus, a bunch of Makita XGT 40V Max tools.
Sounds cool, right? If you want a chance to win, be sure to check out the contest link (no purchase necessary—just enter your info).
Milwaukee’s New Compact Knife Sharpener
Milwaukee may have almost let us down this week, but just before we hit “sad face,” they surprised us with a Compact Knife Sharpener (48-22-1590). This tool features three sharpening surfaces—a coarse carbide pull-through, a fine ceramic pull-through, and a diamond grit rod for specialty blades. With a tether-ready design and a magnet for easy storage, it’s definitely a handy addition to your toolbox for just $9.97.
Tools & Stuff: Makita Updates & New Releases
Our friends over at Tools and Stuff have been on fire lately, giving us some early glimpses of new Makita gear. This time, they’ve revealed some exciting updates, including:
- XGT Barrel Grip Jigsaw – a more ergonomic option for serious users.
- XGT 40V Subcompact Hammer Drill – lightweight but powerful.
- LXT 3-inch Cut-Off Tool – a compact powerhouse.
- And some XGT Grinders – boasting more power than any battery-powered grinder we’ve seen!
These updates show Makita is continuing to innovate and improve their already impressive lineup of tools.
Milwaukee’s Made in the USA Tools
Tools Took Time tested some of Milwaukee’s Made in the USA hand tools. Among them: the 9-inch lineman pliers, 6-inch diagonal cutting pliers, and the cushion grip screwdriver. Early reviews are positive, so if you’re considering upgrading your hand tools, these could be the ones to get.
The DeWalt DXAEPS14 Inflator – It Does It All
DeWalt’s DXAEPS14 is a 1600 Peak Amp Jump Starter that doubles as a 120 PSI air compressor. But that’s not all—it even comes with a 500-watt inverter for AC power on the go, USB ports for electronics charging, and an LED light for emergencies. Whether you need to inflate your tires, jumpstart your car, or power up your devices, this tool has got you covered.
Circular Saw Showdown: Which One Wins?
If you’ve ever wondered how well your old circular saw holds up against the latest battery-powered models, you’ll want to check out the latest Torque Test Channel video. They put some serious heavy hitters head-to-head, including a Makita 5007F and several new cordless models. It’s fun, informative, and a great way to see how much power you can expect from modern saws.
Super Roofing with Max USA’s Coil Nailer
For those of you working in roofing or heavy-duty framing, check out the Max USA SuperRoofer. This coil nailer is lighter and smaller than any battery-powered competitor and can shoot nails from ¾ inch to 1-¾ inch long. If you’re doing roofing, this tool could be a game-changer for efficiency and mobility.
Robotic Mowers – No Boundaries!
In the world of lawn care, Machinery Nation is testing out boundary-less robotic mowers. These mowers use GPS and a signal tower to navigate your yard—no need for an annoying boundary wire. A truly futuristic feature that makes lawn care simpler than ever before.
