Well this is certainly a Christmas Gift worth getting up early for. EGO, just gave us our first detailed look at the all new EGO Z6 Zero Turn Lawnmower, and we learned a few new things about this highly anticipated beast. Let’s Go!

Before I get into the features, lets take a moment to appreciate what has to be the most futuristic looking zero turn we’ve ever seen. As we saw in the EGO patents published by Doresoom Tool Reviews, the new mower does indeed have a bay that holds 6 EGO batteries, and EGO confirmed that it will take their new 10Ah versions. All that power promises to cover a full 2 acres of mowing on a single charge. Can I say “single charge” when you have 6 batteries? You know what I mean.

Let’s get to the stats. The Z6 has a 42” deck as we all expected. It has 22HP, and tops out at 8MPH which is no joke. In popular Husqvarna Fast Tractor, which literally focuses on it’s super fast speed, tops out at 7.4mph. So yeah, 8 is quick.

And just look at that control screen. It features 3 driving modes, including Standard, Control, and Sport,  5 speeds including “travel”, 4 cutting heights, headlights and of course battery levels.

The seat has a Hydraulic suspension. Because let’s face it, my butt deserves hydraulics.

And then we noticed this. That’s a wall charger mounted in that guy’s garage, and they claim it’s the Industry’s fastest charger. It plugs into a standard 110v outlet, and sequentially charges all 6 batteries at the speed of their Rapid Charger. That would mean recharging 6 of their 5ah batteries would take 4 hours, and while we haven’t got our hands on a 10ah yet, it would make sense that it would take 8 hours to fully charge 6 of those, assuming you completely emptied them. So if your 2 acres of grass grows back in less than 8 hours, you’ll need more batteries.

Speaking of, ever since EGO announced this mower we’ve been most excited about all of that space behind the seat. Why? Because this mower uses the same batteries as all of our other EGO tools, so naturally I want to mount our blower, string trimmer, and pole saw back there so I can hop off the mower, grab one of the 6 batteries, drop it in a tool and get more work done. But there’s no sign of a tool rack yet.

We do however get a look at their bagger attachment. It includes a pair of weights that get mounted to the front of the frame so you don’t flip over from the weight of the grass. Next a frame and a pair of bags get suspended over that battery deck, which doesn’t make the bags look very big, but of course we’ll just have to wait to see when we finally get our hands on it.

As for price and availability, EGO will only say “somewhere in the 5k range”, and pre-orders will start in February.

So it’s $5k, 42”, 22HP, and flys along at 8mph. Is this the Tesla of zero turns we were promised? It sure looks like it so far, but we have yet to see it in person. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

We’ve been told that later today we’ll see review videos from Stan the Dirt Monkey and Kite Army. As soon as they go up we’ll link to them in the comments.
