Hey guys, I am Sarah. Every week I comb through hundreds of DIY videos preparing projects for our weekly Maker show, Maker Break. Along the way, I find some good projects… and some GREAT ones, And right now, I’m going to share them with you! This is Sarah’s Top 5 DIY Outdoor Games!

#5 is DIY Montreal

Getting this list started we have Marie, who did not disappoint with this adorable and easy yard dice project! If you or your friends enjoy playing yatzee, these are the perfect addition to your summer BBQ. Personally I have only played yatzee once, and it was literally just to be able to yell yatzee, which I never got to do, because I am not great at said game, HOWever, these would be a fun project to make. And maybe I would get better if I had more practice.

#4 is Anikas DIY Life

This is another fun project that won’t take you much time to put together, but is sure to be a crowd pleaser. I mean, who doesn’t love playing games at a cookout? This simple ring toss game only requires a handful of tools and very little materials. She used copper pipes for the steaks which I think really brought a fun element to the project. I am sure if you don’t want to use pipe you could always use some dowel rods instead. Awesome job Anika.

#3 is Southern Ginger Workshop

Now this is a game I am actually not horrible at playing. I am not great at it, but I am not horrible. Zach found a great way to utilize some scrap lumber he had in his shop and milled down some boards to make these giant  jenga pieces. If you don’t have a planer, or tons of scrap wood I am sure you could use 2×4’s but I really like how uniform he made these when milling them down. It will make the game way more accurate to play because you won’t have many variants between the boards. I like it!

#2 is Statedwoods Co

This is one of the cutest backyard game boards I have ever seen. Nick and one of his buddies built this collapsable Tic-Tac-Toe board that sorta has an A frame shape to it so it isn’t just laying on the ground. You can just walk up and put your game piece in place and hopefully grab that center spot quickly. The way they built it makes it easy for you to set up when you want it, but tuck it out of the way when the party is over.

Side note, I just found this channel and I really like it, so if you haven’t seen any of his videos yet, I highly recommend you go watch  and give him a follow.

#1 is John The Builder Malecki

Finally, we have one of the most popular yard games, well in my area anyway. Corn Hole. Or Bean Bag Toss, or Bags, Tailgate Toss, Corn Toss, Hill Billy Horseshoes, Whatever you call it in your neck of the woods. John, Sam and Jordan made three different versions of the game, and I am obsessed with them all. No matter the woodworking skill level you are, you can surely tackle this project to make your next backyard BBQ a little more entertaining, or if you are anything like my family, a little more competitive.

Have you seen a woodworking project that should have been on my list? Leave a link in the comments below and I’ll be sure to check it out. And if you liked this video the rest of my Top 5’s are in this playlist right here! And don’t forget to join Rob and Me every Tuesday for Maker Break! I’ll see ya then!
