Hey guys, I am Sarah. Every week I comb through hundreds of DIY videos preparing projects for our weekly Maker show, Maker Break. Along the way, I find some good projects… and some GREAT ones, And right now, I’m going to share them with you! This is Sarah’s Top 5 DIY Mudroom Makeovers!

Before we get to our first one do me a favor and hit the like button, and subscribe! Alright, today we’re going to look at a few videos that show you the potential your mudroom has and hopefully inspire you to go make something, let’s go!

#5 is Stoia Wood Design

Nick was asked to custom make an open locker built-in for a mudroom. He kept it pretty simple but made sure it was still packed with character from top to bottom. I love the two tone color combination and the open concept of this build and I can only imagine how happy the client was to get this into their home.

#4 is Mr. Build It

Have you ever heard the phrase “If it’s not broke don’t fix it?” Well, what about the phrase “If you break it you get to upgrade it!” (0:38 He smashed the old one so he can build a new one) Yeah I don’t think that’s a thing, but it worked out in this situation. After Alex “accidentally” broke the mudroom he set out to build a new and improved one, perfect for hiding all of the things. Personally I really like that everything gets tucked away behind doors and out of sight. It makes it look cleaner, even if it’s not.

#3 is The Wood Whisperer

So what if you aren’t sold on having an open concept storage solution? Maybe you have adhd like me and you prefer the out of sight out of mind look, but if you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist? Good news, Mark has the perfect solution. He added doors to the cubbies above the lockers while keeping the main locker open and absolutely beautiful. This way you can hide those little knick knacks you don’t really want on display, but can still keep track of everything you have hanging up and below the bench.

#2 is Ana White

Okay so this mudroom is not actually in a mudroom, it is in Ana’s garage, and because it is in the garage she was able to build a HUGE unit! I say, if you have the room to go big, then go big! This is sweet, I love that she has this running along the side of her garage, and even though they are big they are not in the way. I don’t have a space in my house for an actual mudroom, so this design idea is really appealing to me.

#1 is Rogue Engineer

Finally, Jameson built these stunning cabinets for his home that completely transformed this space. I cannot believe how much that adds to the functionality of this entry way. This spot in his house looks like it was built for the cabinets, not the other way around! I am really digging the color he chose and the wooden bench. This is the prettiest mudroom I have ever seen!

If you’ve seen a project that should have been on my list? Leave a link in the comments below and I’ll be sure to check it out. And if you liked this video the rest of my Top 5’s are in this playlist right here! And don’t forget to join Rob and me every Tuesday for Maker Break! I’ll see ya then!
