Makita has slowly launched new products all year, and they just let us know what’s going to hit the shelves this month, and there’s something for everyone! Let’s Go!
Alright so there’s a lot of tools to cover today, some are cool, some are interesting, and then there’s this thing. But let’s start with the basics. We have new drills!
This is the new Makita XPH15 18V LXT Sub Compact Brushless ½” Hammer Driver-Drill, which is super small at only 6 ½” in length, but features a 2 speed transmission running up to 1,700 rpm for drilling fastening and hammer-drilling to your hearts content. It has an all metal ½” self-ratcheting chuck, a built in LED light, and a rubberized grip so it’s harder for your neighbor to take it from you. Damn you Steve. It also comes equipped with Makita’s Extreme Protection Technology or (XPT, not to be confused with XGT, or LXT.)
Right along the new XPH15, we have the all new XDT18 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless Impact Driver. The new XDT18 includes the Makita Assist Mode which helps eliminate screw cam-out and cross threading by driving at low speed until tightening begins. It delivers 1,240 in. lbs of max torque, has led lights, and a ball-bearing design that aims to minimize bit wobble. No one likes wobbly bits bruh. That should be a tshirt.
And lastly, this is the new Makita XFD15 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless ½” Drill Driver, which at only 5 ⅞” long, it’s very compact. All three of these Sub-Compact tools offer the power of an 18V tool in the body of their 12V competitors. Each one is easily identified by the distinctive black design.
But these aren’t the only Drills Makita is delivering in August. They’re also dropping the new Makita PH06 12V Max CXT (Not LXT, XGT, or XPT) Seriously Makita buy a vowel! The new CXT is a ⅜” Hammer Driver Drill with a strong 250 inch lbs of Max Torque, delivered in up to 1,700 RPM and 25,500 BPM. All in a tiny 2.5lb package. That’s 2.5lbs WITH the 2.0battery!
Makita also announced the arrival of their new Makita Bluetooth Job Site Radio / Charger that runs on, and charges up both 18V LXT batteries AND 12v max CXT batteries. It includes two powerful 3.5” side-firing speakers, which can play content from it’s radio tuner, a bluetooth connection, or even an MPE player via the auxiliary port. The radio is durable, IP64 Rated, and includes storage space for portable devices and a built in bottle opener.
Not to ignore their popular bluetooth AWS line of vacs, Makita also announced the 36V, 18V X2, LXT Brushless 4 Gallon Dry Dust Extractor/Vacuum. It promises 100 minutes of continuous run time on the standard setting and 42 minutes on high. The powerful motor delivers 74 CFM, and 44” water lift of suctions with 2 LXT 5.0 batteries.
The motor chamber is actually built with sound absorbing materials creating only 64db on high. And of course the popular Auto-Start Wireless System or AWS uses bluetooth to connect to your tools and automatically turn on when you need it.
If you like to work in the yard, Makita didn’t forget about you either this month. This is the Makita 18V LXT Grass Shear with a dual-action blade for smooth shearing. With a compact 4 5/16” cutting width, and a 2,500 stokes per minute, you’ll get up to 2 hours of runtime with an LXT 5.0 battery. It also has a rubberized soft grip, tool-less blade changing, and finally… non-electrolyzed nickel-plated blades. Wow that sounds like a good thing. I have no idea really. But I mean, if it wasn’t great, why would they include it in the press release. AmIRight?
And finally, look at this oddity. No, it’s not a Makita crutch. MISS opportunity Makita! No this is the Makita Rebar Tying Stand-Up Extension Handle for the 18V LXT Rebar Tying Tool. Essentially this attachment allows you to use their rebar tying tool, which we’ve used, and it’s awesome, but of course when you’re tying rebar on the ground, doing squats all day is not ideal. So this attachment allows you to stay upright, while the tool does the work on the ground. It includes a two-finger power trigger, and an auxiliary side handle makes the whole thing much easier.
That’s it for August. Next month… I have no idea, but as soon as Makita tells me, I’ll be sure to tell you.
