Makita just dropped a TON of new tools on us at the GIE EXPO 2021, plus a few new lights and a new line of 3 plane lasers. Let’s go!
Before we get to the crazy new line of Outdoor Power Equipment, let’s start with their new Makita 18V LXT Tower Lights. This is the Makita 18V LXT Tower Work Light model DML813, and this is the new 18V LXT Tower Work/Multi-Directional Light, DML814. You’ll never guess what makes them different.
They both extend to a towering 7’ 3” high, and they’re both IP55 rated for dust and water resistance. The 813 features an adjustable head that rotates 220 degrees vertically and 230 degrees horizontally. The 814 has 3 separate adjustable heads that rotate 180 degrees vertically. Both towers deliver 900, 1,700, or 3,000 lumens on low medium and high respectively. They’ll run up to 10 hours on low with an 18V LXT 5Ah battery, or up to 2 hours on high. And like other tower lights, these conveniently fold up and have a shoulder strap for transportation.
The 813 is available now for $299 as a bare tool, and the 814 can be had for $349.
Moving on to the 3 plane lasers. There are a total of 4 new models, all running on the Makita 12V max CXT platform, two of which are red, while the other two are green. They all features 3 full 360 degree beams creating 6 cross points. The two red models SK700D, have a visual range of 82’, while the two green models SK700GD, can be seen up to 115’ away. They all have pendulum lock, 360 swivel motion, fine adjustment, and IP54 protective rating. The only other significant difference is runtime, where as the Red will run for 22 hours, while the Green run only 14, which is to be expected from Green lasers.
The red comes either as a bare tools for $399, or in a kit with a 2ah battery and charger for $499. The Green is also available right now for $499 bare, or in a kit with a battery, charger and hard case for $549.
On to the OPE! At GIE this last week, Makita had a whole line of new tools to show off that are all anxious to find a new home in your garage. They have new tools in the LXT, XGT and Their ConnectX lines, so lets start with LXT, where They announced a new 36V X2 LXT 21” self propelled lawn mower, that runs on their dual battery system, but it can hold 4 so the user can easily switch over to fresh batteries and double the runtime, giving you up to 40 minutes with 4 5ah batteries. The mower will be available this spring.
They also revealed a new Makita 18V LXT 1.3 Gallon Garden Sprayer, perfect for fertilizer and more. It sprays up to 77 gallons on a single charge, and adjusts between 19 and 38 PSI. It will also be available in spring 2022.
They also showed off a new 18V LXT Cooler/Warmer box, that claims to either keep your stuff cold, running from 50 degrees to negative 0.4 degrees. Or, if you need to keep your stuff hot,it can heat it up to 131 degrees! Yes, please! And fortunately, this one will be around in December, Just in time for Christmas. Do you hear that Sarah?
Moving on to their 40V max XGT platform, they announced a new brushless Earth Auger (I asked, and they said the Mars auger would just be too expensive.) This beast will meet the performance equivalent of a 30CC gas-powered auger, but without pull starts, noise or emissions. It can drill up to 8” wide holes, 41” deep. We’ll see it on shelves in December.
Next, they announced a new Brushless 16” Top Handle Chain Saw! This isn’t by any means Makita’s first chainsaw, but it IS the first in the XGT lineup which a lot of us have been waiting for. And it’s in a top-handle configuration, favored by arborists who have to carry these things into the treetops. They say we’ll see it “Soon” in 2022. I can’t wait.
Last of all, They announced 3 new XGT string trimmers and brush cutters, including a 40V Max XGT Brushless 17” string trimmer, a 40V max XGT Brushless Brushcutter, and an 80V Max X2, XGT Brushless Brush Cutter. We’ll know more about them when they arrive “soon” in 2022 as well.
Finally, the Makita ConnectX system, which is a run-time and power solution specially designed for professional landscapers who want to replace gas. THIS is the all-new Connect X 1,200Wh Backpack Power Supply. This is a huge battery you wear on your back, and simply plug in the tools you need to get the job done. Specifically, it will connect to compatible mowers, trimmers and blowers. It works with ConnectX products, as well as Makita 40V max XGT tools and 36V X2 LXT tools with an adapter, which is super cool. Alongside the backpack, they revealed a new 36V ConnectX brushless 21” self Propelled Commercial Lawn Mower that when combined with the backpack, can provide up to a staggering 3 hours of continuous cutting. And in a particularly clever move, they designed the back pack to attach to the top of the mower, so you don’t have to wear it while you mow. Both will be available next month, November 2021.
That’s it for now from Makita, we’ll be at STAFDA next week, where we plan to visit the Makita booth to get more details on several new tools they have ready to reveal, so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it!
